FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14TH Isaiah 38:14 (NKJV)

“My eyes fail from looking upward, O Lord, I am oppressed. Undertake for me!”
King Hezekiah was sick and near death when he prayed to the Lord. God heard his prayer and healed him, adding 15 years to his life. Hezekiah, however, later failed to give God the glory when the Babylonian envoys visited. He instead invited them to look at all his earthly resources instead of looking up to Almighty God who was responsible for his recovery.
For a few years now, I have encouraged my column readers to “Look Back” at the good times and sweet memories of the past or “Look Forward” to all the exciting changes taking place in our community. Both “looks” brighten people’s days, but a “Look Up” brings greater fulfillment. God may not add days to our lives, but He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think. (Eph. 3:20). He is the author and finisher of our faith…and our story. He will gain honor no matter what the circumstances.
Prayer: God, help us to look up and glorify You in every circumstance.
