MONDAY, MARCH 25TH Deuteronomy 15:11
by: Nita Kay Freeman
“There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but I am busy. Sometimes way too busy and consumed with my own life to really SEE the needs of others. I like to think of myself as a compassionate, giving person, but when I look around in my community, my work, my church — I fall short ALOT! There is always a place to serve others. Jason said in the message that “if it doesn’t glorify God, you may be working toward the wrong goal” Here are a few thoughts:
S SURRENDER to God and he will show you the need
E Open your EYES and EARS to see and hear the needs of others. I promise they are there.
R RELINQUISH control, so that God may take you out of your comfort zone
V Let go of the VANITY. Sometimes helping others may not be very glamorous and may not give you the accolades you are looking for.
E Remember that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from God (when you’re helping and when you’re being helped.)
May our service of others point them and ourselves straight back to God!
