MONDAY, APRIL 22ND 2 Corinthians 5:21(ESV)
by: Shawn Hammontree
“For our sake he, (God), made him, (Jesus), to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
YOU are selfish. YOU are prideful. YOU have lied. YOU have lusted. YOU have been extremely jealous of others. YOU have lost control. YOU have wanted God to do your bidding and be what you wish Him to be. YOUR list could go on and on because YOU are a sinner. YOU deserve eternal punishment in Hell.
Now that I have your attention, I just want to say…
I am selfish. I am prideful. I have lusted. I have been extremely jealous of others. I have lost control. I have wanted God to do my bidding and be what I wish Him to be. My list could go on and on because I am a sinner. I DESERVE eternal punishment in Hell.
We are all in the same boat. The Bible says in Romans 3:10, “There is no one righteous, not even one.” THIS is why I love 2 Cor. 5:21 so much! God took our selfishness, pride, lies, lusts, jealousy, our loss of control, our misrepresentation of God, our list of sins that could go on and on, and our eternal punishment AND NAILED IT ALL TO CHRIST ON THE CROSS. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Jesus truly paid it all!
What should be our response to such lavish grace? It can be summed in the lyrics to the song, “The Wonderful Cross” by Chris Tomlin,
“Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all.”
