Are you an example of what a child of God looks like? Are you an example of a child of God whose life is worth imitating? What about your speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, does it honor God? In I Timothy 4:12 we read “Don’t let anybody look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” This charge was given by Paul to Timothy as a trusted co-laborer in Christ and church leadership to go and work with the church at Ephesus.
God is not a Sunday Morning Fairy Tale. He spoke this world into existence. He knows all the stars by name and He loves every fiber of our being. He wants us to live our lives to honor Him and have a good influence on others. Is your speech pure and clean? Would others know that you are a Christian by your speech? Would your conduct, the things you do honor God? Do you love God, husband or wife, your children? Love is a choice, can be a self-sacrifice and many other things. Read II Corinthians 13, which is called the love chapter of the Bible and see how you measure up. Are you devoted, faithful and loyal to God? Are you an example of what a believer in faith looks like? Jesus also wants us to be pure in body, heart and mind. Jesus intended that the love of husband and wife be in the boundary of marriage.
Timothy our Bible Hero for today was given instructions listed in I Timothy 4:12. How do you measure up?
