WEDNESDAY, MAY 22ND Proverbs 22:4 (NIV)

“Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.”
What do almost 33,000 mortarboard caps, school-colored gowns, excited seniors, and proud grandparents have in common this time of year? They all wish for a short commencement speech and an air-conditioned venue in AR! No, seriously, graduation is a time of crossroads where YOU basically determine where you go from here…a time of reflection and projection. As Christians, do we assess the passage of time as lessons learned, bibles worn, and growth in discipleship? What “grades” are you earning in your prayer life, serving others, tithing, and discipleship? Funny how we labor for success in the temporal, but often fail to complete the coursework for the eternal. Coach John Wooden’s wisdom states, “When opportunity comes, it’s too late to prepare.” Spoiler Alert…The secret of anyone’s success can be found in their daily agenda. In fact, it’s NO secret at all! Is their speech pure, truthful, and uplifting? Is the language of their behavior holy conduct? Do they live a faith-filled lifestyle clothed in love? Is their commitment to purity evident? Success does not equal perfection. Godly success is (as Brother Jason stated), “Living a life worthy of imitating.” Will there be challenges, disappointments and setbacks? No doubt. Expect them and learn from them. John Maxwell wisely advised, “The most successful people in life are the ones who settle their critical issues early and manage them daily.” Look at Jesus. Thoroughly examine his life! Does He ask us to do anything that he hasn’t already conquered? Nope. So when the perseverance and discipline gets tough in the temporal (and it will)…look up prayerfully, soak in His Word, and make each day consistently successful by heaven’s standards. Your take-home test is waiting. Your choices and priorities determine where you are headed. Your eternal diploma is far more than a passing grade! It’s a grace gift from The Master Teacher.
